A DNA
paternity test is very important and the results of the test can
affect the rest of your life. Thus, it is very important for you
to use the best test available in the market today to ensure that
you are receiving the highest quality test. Most people do not know
the scientific background of DNA testing and do not know the difference
between a high quality test and a low quality test, and what to
look for when choosing a DNA testing laboratory. List below are
some of the important features to look for when choosing a DNA test: |
|
|

 |
How many DNA locations are examined? |
| |
When a DNA test is
performed, the DNA laboratory examines many different genes and
compares the genes of the child with the genes of the alleged
father. The more genes that are examined, the more accurate the
test becomes. Using the latest technology, the current standard
is to examine at least 16 different genes for your test.
At Genetrack, we guarantee
that all 16 genes are tested, and in the final report, we will
list each gene and give you the exact DNA information for each
individual tested. However, not all laboratories examine all 16
genes. Some smaller labs do not have the technology to examine
so many locations, and will only examine 5 or 6 genes. Some labs
examine less than 16 genes in order to save money and increase
profit. Because most patients do not know this, most patients
simply rely on the laboratory, and do not ask how many genes are
tested. As a result, many Asian laboratories cut corners and examine
only 12 genes or even as few as 6 genes. Remember, the more genes
that are examined, the more accurate and high quality the test
becomes. The danger of cutting corners and examining less genes
is that you may not get the correct result. Always ensure that
the laboratory examines all 16 genes to ensure that you will receive
conclusive results. Always make sure that the laboratory guarantees
that it will write down on your final report document the name
and data for every gene tested to ensure that you receive the
results for every single gene.
Genetrack is a world
renowned laboratory which performs testing for the Canadian government
and processes large volumes of tests and maintains the highest
testing standards. As a result, Genetrack is equipped with the
most advanced testing equipment and modern technology. Genetrack
guarantees that we examine all 16 genetic locations.

How
many times does the laboratory perform your test? |
| |
Currently,
in North America, the standards are much higher than in the rest
of the world. Many reputable laboratories, including Genetrack,
guarantees that your entire test is run two times before the documents
are released to ensure 100% accuracy. This is an expensive procedure,
and usually only large North American laboratories with the proper
equipment and staff run the tests two times. This means that all
16 genes are tested two times, with identical results each time
before results are released. Most laboratories outside of North
America and also smaller laboratories test less than 16 genes and
only run the test one time. As a result, the tests may not be as
reliable. |
 |
Is
the test performed by a qualified Ph.D scientist? |
| |
At
Genetrack, all tests are overseen by highly qualified and experienced
Ph.D scientists. Genetrack has multiple Ph.D staff that ensure the
quality of the tests which are performed. The Ph.D scientists oversees
all tests in the laboratory and reviews all reports before they
are released. Genetrack’s staff are all highly qualified molecular
biologists, and our testing laboratory is run by Ph.D scientists.

 |
Does
the laboratory participate in internationally recognized DNA testing
programs? |
| |
To
ensure the highest quality tests, North America has a number of
regulatory bodies which govern how the testing is performed and
regulate the competency of the DNA testing laboratory. Genetrack
is registered to participate in the DNA laboratory proficiency
program of the Canadian Standards Counsel which also oversees
the testing of the RCMP in Canada. Genetrack is ISO 17025 accredited.
Genetrack also participates in the paternity testing proficiency
program of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), and undergoes
rigorous laboratory proficiency testing three times every year.
Genetrack has always scored perfectly in the proficiency tests
and is ranked as one of the best laboratories in North America.
Many smaller laboratories
in Asia do not have the proper technology to perform high quality
DNA tests. Also, DNA testing in Asia currently is not regulated,
so many labs in Asia do not test all 16 genes and do not run your
test two times. A paternity test is a very important procedure
and requires a laboratory that is experienced and well equipped,
and that participates in recognized regulatory programs. As a
result, many individuals in Asia who are serious about determining
paternity seek out North American laboratories or ask friends
or relatives in North America to help them contact the laboratories
directly to arrange for testing. Paternity testing affects the
rest of your life and you cannot afford a mistake. Unfortunately,
mistakes can happen if a laboratory is too new and does not have
enough experience, if the laboratory does not perform enough tests
and thus is not equipped with the latest and most advanced equipment,
or does not have to participate in North American regulating societies
such as the CAP or SCC. Genetrack’s Asian testing division specializes
in bringing our advanced, high quality testing services to clients
in Asia. You can now receive the highest quality testing easily
and economically with no hassle.
